Ahmedabad, January 25, 2024: Unitedworld Institute of Design (UID), a premier design institution affiliated with Karnavati University situated in Uvarsad, Gandhinagar, successfully hosted the Global Game Jam 2024 from January 22 to 24. This is the first time ever that it was organised in Gujarat, bringing together a talented community of game developers and enthusiasts from UID.
The Global Game Jam is the world’s largest game creation event taking place simultaneously around the globe across several physical and virtual locations across 100+ countries in the world. A game jam is similar to a hackathon where participants (also known as jammers) come together for a short period of time to create games around a central theme revealed at the start of the jam.
Some 124 jammers participated in the Global Game Jam 2024 held at Karnavati University, to collaborate in developing innovative games that engage people across age groups. The games created were in three broad categories: Board Games, Mobile Games and Computer Games.
The event at UID was facilitated by revered industry experts from across India namely Dr Venkat Chandar, Product Consultant, Games & Web3, Pune, Mr Tejas Shirodkar, founder and CEO at Petrol.Social, Hyderabad and Mr Jitesh Jariwala, Tech Lead, SNK IT Solutions, Co-Founder, Arcadon Games, Surat.
The Global Game Jam 2024 held at UID highlighted the immense career opportunities available to design professionals and enthusiasts in the gaming industry. The event was not just a platform for students to showcase their talent but also give them an opportunity to communicate by harnessing the power of games.
Professor Manisha Mohan, Dean, UID and the event coordinator expressed heartfelt appreciation for the dedicated mentors, faculty members, administrative staff for their passion, energy, and unwavering dedication in facilitating the event. Their commitment played a pivotal role in creating an environment where participants thrived and showcased their talents.
