Gandhinagar, February 1, 2026: Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University based in Gandhinagar organised Convocation 2026 on Friday. Shri Dileep Sanghani, a former minister of the Government of Gujarat and Chairman of IFFCO and GUJCOMASOL remained present as the distinguished guest at the 7th Convocation Ceremony of Swarrnim University.
Some 2,182 students were
conferred their graduation and post-graduation degrees across various
disciplines. Twenty-eight students were awarded Gold Medals for outstanding
academic performance, while 19 students received Silver Medals in recognition
of meritorious achievement. Three students were conferred Gold Medals for
Startups, honouring their entrepreneurial initiative, innovation and real-world
problem-solving skills.
The event was presided over by
Shri Rishabh Gayaprasad Jain, President, Swarrnim Group, who also served as
Chief Patron and President (Guest of Honour) at the event. Among other Guests
of Honour were Shri Amit Thaker, MLA, Vejalpur, Gujarat, and Dr Kannan
Srinivasan, Director, CSIR–Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research
Institute (CSMCRI), Gujarat.
During his address, Shri Dileep
Sanghani said, “India needs to be fearless and self-reliant. After 75 years, a
separate Ministry of Cooperation has been formed for the first time, creating
an ecosystem where opportunities and livelihoods are no longer difficult to
access. Today, if you are determined to do something, the support system exists
to help you succeed. As students, you should take full advantage of the
opportunities available within the cooperative sector for your future
innovations and endeavours. I congratulate you on your academic achievements
and wish you every success in the years ahead.”
On this occasion, Swarrnim
University also disbursed the first instalment of Rs 12.6 lakh of grant
approved from the government to some seven out of nine startups selected for
this year.
Convocation 2026 also saw
presence of special invitees namely Dr Jayesh P Sachdev, Additional Director,
Medical Education and Research, Government of Gujarat; Ms Aarti Joshi,
Bollywood actress; Dr Tushar Shah, Senior Laparoscopy Surgeon from the Department
of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad; and Shri Kamal
Mangal, Founder of the Anand Niketan Group of Schools, Ahmedabad.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri
Rishabh Jain, President, Swarrnim Group, said, “Convocation 2026 is a proud
moment for the entire Swarrnim community. These 2,182 graduates have showcased
exceptional academic rigour with innovation, entrepreneurship and ethical
leadership. Our focus is not only on conferring degrees upon our students, but
on developing professionals and founders who are capable of creating a
sustainable impact through innovation and entrepreneurship. The recognition of
startups alongside academic merit reaffirms our commitment to outcome-oriented
education and nation-building.”
Speaking during his address, Dr
Kannan Srinivasan said, “I congratulate all the startup award winners and all
the academic achievers. The ecosystem of startup that took shape in the past
decade. Creating a university to encourage startup and innovation is a
futuristic move. The creative abilities of our startup ecosystem will play a
significant role in nation building.”
Shri Amit Thaker, also lauded
Swarrnim University for their efforts to fulfil the dreams of many youth of our
country. He said, “India’s youth is taking new paths and achieving new strides
in various new and different subjects. Instead of engaging in wrongdoings on
campus, Indian youth is rather working on his startup on campus to become not
an employee but a job creator. It’s our PM’s vision to see India developed by
2047. If India has to move forward, then everyone has to move forward in the
spirit of unity and the citizens of this country including the youth must talk
about ‘Nagrik Kartavya’ (citizen’s duty).”
The ceremony followed traditional
academic proceedings, including the conferment of degrees, addresses by
dignitaries and the declaration of the convocation’s closure.
