Ahmedabad: Torrent Group has entered the fast-growing hospital sector with plans to build a 500-plus bed multispecialty facility along the SP Ring Road, investing over ₹750 crore, according to project filings.
The project will be developed by group subsidiary Torrent Hospitals Private Limited on a 13,896 sq metre plot with a built-up area of 95,814 sq metres, making it one of the city’s larger private healthcare investments. The land was acquired in mid-2025 for ₹247 crore, and the hospital is expected to generate at least 2,400 jobs once operational.
The move builds on Torrent’s healthcare push following the launch of Torrent Diagnostics in 2022 and marks its entry into end-to-end services spanning pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and tertiary care. Statutory and zoning approvals for the project are currently underway.
Torrent’s foray comes amid a post-Covid expansion of hospital capacity in Ahmedabad, led by large corporate groups. In recent years, CIMS Hospital was acquired by Marengo Asia Healthcare, HCG expanded its cancer care facility, while the Adani Group and Zydus Hospitals have also announced major hospital projects in the city.
Industry executives attribute the growing demand for large multispecialty hospitals to rising health insurance coverage, higher disposable incomes and an increasing preference for comprehensive care under one roof.
